Veco: Discount, Subsidy Both Available For Elderly

Veco: Discount, subsidy both available for elderly by Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon CEBU, Philippines - The Visayan Electric Company announces that qualified senior citizens can both enjoy the senior citizens discount as well as the lifeline subsidy discount. Veco spokesperson Ethel Natera said that the lifeline subsidy discount will apply in the following manner; For those consuming 0-20 kWh, the discount is 100%; 21-30kWh, 65% discount; 31-40 kWh, 50% discount; 41-50 kWh, 40% discount; 51-60 kWh, 30% discount; 61-70 kWh, 20%; 71-80 kWh, 15%; 81-90 kWh, 10% and 91-100 kWh, 5%. On top of this subsidy senior citizens can avail of more discount starting this month as Veco also starts implementing the 5-percent discount as mandated under the Republic Act 9994 otherwise known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010. Section 4 (a) of the law grants five percent discount on the electricity consumption of senior citizens. Section 5 (d) on the other hand grants at least 50% discount to qualified senior citizens center and residual care/group homes. The senior citizen or his representative shall apply for the discount with Veco. There shall be an annual renewal of the application. The applicant must also submit documents as proof as age and citizenship, proof of billing and proof of residence. Veco said that they will advise the public on further developments and the actual date that the discount will be given.
