Project ALAB: Visayan Electric provides basic life support training to Punta Princesa youth
In a world where medical emergencies can strike at any moment, being equipped with the right life-saving skills can mean the difference between life and death.
Driven by a commitment to safety, Visayan Electric, through its Kaibigan CSR Program, initiated Project ALAB (Alalay sa Buhay): Empowering the Youth Through Basic Life Support Education. Timed in honor of World Humanitarian Day, a global celebration of aid workers and everyday heroes, this initiative equips the youth with essential lifesaving skills, ensuring our communities are safer, stronger, and better prepared to protect one another.
Led by Kaibigan Batch 2, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Council of Barangay Punta Princesa and the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF), Project ALAB brought together local youth for a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training seminar at the Visayan Electric training Hub at F. Gonzales on August 23, 2026.
During the training, the participants learned first-hand how to respond to emergencies and provide critical first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the Heimlich maneuver, proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and wound dressing.
Each participant was also provided with a comprehensive medicine and first-aid kit to take home.
This initiative underscores Visayan Electric’s strong commitment to safety in the workplace and beyond. The company believes that safety is everyone’s responsibility, including the youth.
The Visayan Electric Kaibigan CSR program is an employee-led initiative dedicated to supporting communities and local organizations across Cebu. Since 2024, the program has actively partnered with diverse groups, including local fisherfolk, farmers, women's organizations, and the youth.
