Visayan Electric announced a residential electricity rate of Php 12.57 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for April 2026, reflecting an increase of Php 0.21 from March’s Php 12.36 per kWh.

The adjustment reflects ongoing pressures from volatile global energy markets. Despite these challenges, Visayan Electric optimized its supply strategy through careful review of existing power contracts and sourcing from the most cost-efficient available options to cushion the impact on customers.

“These conditions are largely driven by external factors beyond our control, but our priority has always been to protect our customers from sudden and significant increases,” said Mark Anthony B. Kindica, Visayan Electric’s President and General Manager. “Through disciplined contract management and close coordination with government partners, we have managed this month’s adjustment while ensuring reliable service.”

These proactive measures are part of the company’s continued efforts to reduce the effects of global energy disruptions on local electricity prices.

For a typical household consuming 200 kWh, this translates to an increase of around Php 42 in the monthly bill.

Global conditions remain fluid and may continue to affect future pricing. Customers are encouraged to practice energy efficiency, as conservation remains the most effective way to manage electricity costs.

Visayan Electric reaffirms its commitment to transparency, prudent cost management, and strong collaboration with government and industry partners to help ensure that Cebu’s consumers are supported through this period of uncertainty, with reliability and accountability at the forefront.
