Visayan Electric and the Aboitiz Foundation have delivered essential relief goods to victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu on the night of Sept. 30.
Volunteers from Visayan Electric packed more than 1,000 relief bags containing ready-to-eat food, personal hygiene kits, and bottled water. The aid was distributed to residents in the City of Bogo and the municipalities of Medellin, San Remigio, and Daanbantayan.
Mark Anthony Kindica, President and General Manager of Visayan Electric, expressed his solidarity with the affected communities.
“In times of crisis like this, our commitment to the communities we serve extends beyond our franchise area,” Kindica said. “We have been a partner for progress in Cebu, and now is the time to amplify that partnership and help our fellow Cebuanos.”
The 6.9 magnitude earthquake, the strongest to hit the region in over a decade, has killed 70 people and displaced more than 300,000 families in northern Cebu.
