To support fisherfolk communities heavily affected by Typhoon Tino, Visayan Electric turned over livelihood assets to the Mahayahay-Atisan Fishermen Association in Cansojong, Talisay, during a ceremony held last April 25.

The devastation caused by Typhoon Tino left many fisherfolk in Cansojong struggling to sustain their livelihoods.

Damages to their boats hindered operations and limited their ability to purchase essential fishing gear.

In addition, the lack of reliable power sources and necessary materials for night fishing further reduced their household income.

In response, Visayan Electric's Kaibigan Batch 5 launched Project LAMBO: Livelihood Assets for Mahayahay-Atisan Fishermen, an initiative that provides batteries and specialized fishing materials to help address the significant losses experienced by the fishermen following last year’s typhoon.

These livelihood assets will enable the fishermen to redirect their limited financial resources toward other basic needs of their families, instead of spending on the rehabilitation of their fishing boats and equipment.

This initiative reflects Visayan Electric’s continued commitment to creating meaningful impact and uplifting the lives of the communities it serves.
