Visayan Electric has brought power access to 552 households across the City of Naga after completing its House Wiring Project in its final beneficiary community, Barangay Uling.

For many residents, turning on electricity marks a life-changing milestone after years of relying on temporary, hazardous lighting sources.

“Life is so hard and dark without electricity. We used to rely on gas lamps to light our home, and our kids had to walk to their in-laws' house just to do their homework,” shared Jennelyn Dalaguit, a beneficiary from Barangay Uling.

Dalaguit added that her family had to run an extension wire from a relative’s home to get power—a risky arrangement, but a compromise many families were forced to make just to meet basic needs.

Through Visayan Electric’s House Wiring Project, families like Dalaguit’s now enjoy direct, safe, and reliable access to electricity.

Children can study comfortably under proper lighting, while homes are equipped with the power needed to operate basic appliances and beat the scorching heat.

The initiative is made possible through Energy Regulations No. 1-94 (ER 1-94), a policy designed to compensate host communities for hosting energy-generating facilities.

Under ER 1-94, host communities earn one centavo per kilowatt-hour (₱0.01/kWh) generated, with generation company KEPCO serving as a major fund contributor for the beneficiary communities.

Visayan Electric utilizes these electrification funds to deploy qualified electricians who install safe and complete house wiring for qualified indigent families across 12 barangays in the City of Naga.

By bringing safe power directly into these homes, Visayan Electric not only illuminates households but also continues to power and uplift the lives of the communities it serves.
